Most manufactures recommend replacing your filters every 6-9 months. If it is a washable they recommend rinsing it with cold water once a month and not using chemicals or detergents. Allow to air dry for at least 12 hrs. Replacing your filter before it is completely dry will result in bad odors and possible mold contamination. Which can be very hazardous to your health. If your filter has been compromised replace immediately!
Please note: Most vacuums have at least 1 filter. Many bagless vacuums have 2 or 3.

Vacuum filters are an essential part of your vacuum cleaner. Many vacuums have filters or multiple filters to help protect your vacuum and dispense filtered air back into the room. Just replacing the vacuums bag or main filter / dirt cup may not be enough. Many of the bag-less vacuums have multiple filters. Intake, exhaust, pre motor, post motor, whatever the term, they need replacing. Washable filters are of the smartest investments. Giving you a long time usage from one filter. But don’t place a wet filter back into your vacuum. Instead buy 2, one in the vacuum and a clean one on the shelf that is drying out for next time. If your filter is dirty then the motor gets hot and may cause premature failure. A clean one will prolong the life of your vacuum by letting it breath and stay running cool. Even if you cannot find the exact filter for your vacuum all is not lost. Cut to fit material is available for making the filter you need for your vacuum even if its not produced any more. Take your old machine and introduce it to the cut to fit charcoal material. Now you can really clean things up.
